Take care of your body

The term “integrative” indicates the intention to unify separate things. As such, therapeutic techniques from Swedish Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Thai Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Myofascial Release, Sports Massage, Cupping Therapy, Neuromuscular and Trigger Point Therapy, are combined for a treatment fully customized to your body and concerns.

Unlike the massage often found in spas, an integrative massage session is a more clinical style of bodywork that focuses on assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction. Since every body is different, your therapist will work with you to see which techniques and modalities best suit the unique needs of your body, without sacrificing the element of relaxation that massage therapy has become so well known for.

Your session will begin with a brief discussion of your needs, and your therapist’s recommendations for the session based on your health history and any feedback you have from previous treatments. At the end of your session, your therapist will chat with you about what they noticed during the treatment, and make further recommendations for future sessions, as well as self care techniques you may benefit from in the meantime, such as stretching and strengthening exercises.

Massage for Athletes

Sports massage focuses on the needs of the athlete. Releases muscle tension and restores balance for training and events.

Sports massage is not code for “deep tissue”, and there is nothing inherently more beneficial about a sports massage. So what makes sports massage different than an integrative massage? To be quite honest, not very much. When an athlete indicates the need for sports massage, this prompts the therapist to ask questions regarding the nature of their chosen sport, and where they are in their training. The therapist will choose different techniques and areas of focus for the session depending on the athlete’s intention. Is this a pre-game balancing? A post-game recovery? Are you trying to stay ahead of an old injury? Sports massage simply indicates the need for a different conversation prior to your session in order to ensure your training is being considered and your needs are being addressed.

Take time to take care of yourself. You deserve it.
