Project Description
Massage for lymphatic drainage
This gentle modality targets the lymphatic system to encourage movement of lymph through the body.
The lymphatic system plays an important role in supporting the body’s immune system by removing waste from the body via lymphatic fluid, which is primarily made up of white blood cells that fight bacteria and viruses. Lymphatic drainage is often helpful for issues like lymphedema, arthritis, post-op recovery, chronic venous insufficiency, and the swelling and fatigue associated with menopause. Even those not experiencing specific problems with their lymphatic system often find this therapy incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating.
Contraindications for Lymphatic Drainage include: Fever, influenza, infection that is not being treated with antibiotics (within the last 48 hours,) active cancer treatment without treatment teams approval, major organ failure, skin conditions of unknown origins, surgery patients less that 48 hours post op or without doctor’s approval, prenatal clients in the 1st trimester, or in any trimester where they’re still experiencing morning sickness, and high risk pregnancies without a doctor’s written approval.
